NoChintz were approached by the newly refurbished Corn Exchange in Manchester to design and build the latest pop-up space in the stunning central atrium. The Grade II-listed building underwent a £30m revamp last year, turning it from a shopping centre into a location for dining with 13 new restaurants and bars.
The brief was to create a space where people could sit, relax and admire the beautiful features of the historic building – in particular its domed glass ceiling. NoChintz explored the Corn Exchanges history and developed a concept based around a victorian ‘Palm House’, with heavy planting, telescopes and the odd top hat. An installation of mirrors encourages visitors to look up and private kissing seats create the perfect spot for a romantic photo.
The aptly names ‘Observatory’ will only be there for Spring 2016 so make sure you check it out soon!
