Smithfields

– The Brief

We were asked to design an exhibition stand to promote the 'new' Smithfield market situated in the outskirts of manchester, for design agency Creative Lynx. Which was to be located at the Northern Bar and Restaurant Show 2010.

– Our Approach

The original market had been located within the city centre of Manchester and was steeped in history which needed to be conveyed within the stand. The main produce of the market is locally sourced fresh fruit, veg & fish so these also needed to be displayed within the space along with communication about the heritage and functionality of the old & new Smithfield.

Graphic imagery was used give a modern contemporary feel and re-inforce the history along with chalk board and feature lighting. the back wall was covered in shipping palettes to reflect the day to day life of the market. Tasters & samples of the fresh produce was to be distributed to potential new clients so a serving area & meeting are also had to be incorporated.

Large illuminated display cases at the front of the stand guided people on & off the stand & again gave ample opportunity to display all the markets wares.
