Claire Price
– Junior Designer
Claire gained a first class degree in Design: Crafts honours degree in 2007 from Staffordshire University, during which she worked on designing and making high quality products using a range of materials. This culminated in the design and production of a unique hand-made bag range, which was exhibited at a variety of exhibitions uncluding as Top Drawer 2007, ultimately generating her interest in Display and Interior Design. Claire went on to work as a visual merchandiser, developing a high standard of commercial awareness providing an excellent introduction to the more strategic aspects of interior design. Claire now studies Architectural Technology & Interior Design, further developing her industry skills and is now working with NoChintz as a Junior Designer.
I have such a broad interest in design in general and have always known I wanted to use my creativity. Working at NoChintz is a brilliant experience and although I haven't been with the company long it has already given me so much knowledge of the workings of a creative design studio. It's definitely an inspiring and supportive place to work.
Manchester is all new to me but I really like the creative energy and am slowly getting to know some of the quirky and unique shops and cafes.
I love a good cup of tea, especially when someone else makes it!
My favourite designer is Vivienne Westwood, for her outlook, passion and ultimate belief in what she does, fighting the cause and also designing exactly what she wants without being influenced by trends. I also love her complete eccentricity.
I'm most inspired by quirky and elaborate architecture and interiors, old or new and love how the design possibilities are endless.
The most inspiring person I've ever met was definitely my tutor on my degree course who was full of energy and enthusiasm for weird design ideas!
My most valuable possession is my new car. I hate to be materialistic but I've waited a long time for my own car.
In 5 years I would like to be established in my interior design career utilising my varied experiences and continue broadening my design knowledge. Although I have found the industry I want to work in, I love learning new skills and would like to continue exploring different areas of design to support my interior design work.
The last thing I wanted but couldn't have has got to be a holiday. It's the top of my list when I finish my course.
My favourite film is Dirty Dancing. A film I can watch over and over again and never gets old although I have to admit I am more of a sucker for reality TV series especially The Rachel Zoe Project, Kell On Earth and Pineapple Dance Studios!
One piece of advice for emerging designers is never give up!
