Following the phase 1 install of the communal areas last year, April saw the NoChintz team back up on the Isle of Lewis for a month to complete the second and final phase of this, 4 years in the making project.
Lews Castle, in the far north of Scotland, features 23 bedrooms, 9 livings rooms, a cocktail bar, retail store and cafe over 4 floors of the Grade II listed building. Working with Natural Retreats, NoChintz have brought this unique destination back to life with a contemporary yet sympathetic approach.
Each apartment is designed around a central living area with a unique kitchen colour way; hardwood floors, geometric tile transitions and reinstated fireplaces, maximising on views over the museum, castle grounds and harbour. Bedrooms are given identity with striking headboards using tile, wood and marble, as well as baths and vanity areas being brought back into the bedrooms where possible.
Fabrics used on bespoke sofas and dining furniture were woven especially for the project, on the island, at the Harris Tweed factory. Partnering British and Scandinavian brands to deliver an appropriate styling to this northern Scottish retreat.
Shortlisted for a Best Hospitality Interiors at the Mixology17 awards.
