This month NoChintz are 10 years old! To kick off our birthday celebrations the whole team headed off to a surprise European destination for 2 days to explore, be inspired and toast to a decade of creativity and hard work.
The destination was kept under wraps from the team right up until we met at Manchester Airport all ready to board the flight. An hour later we were in Eindhoven! Located in southern Netherlands, Eindhoven is know as a technology and design hub – the home of tech brand Phillips. Today Eindhoven is attracting a cooler crowd as design hubs, creative industries and neighbourhood hangouts are opening up across the city. Most recently the rapidly expanding hospitality concept ‘The Student Hotel‘ opened its doors – and was our first stop as we arrived in Eindhoven.
After lunch in ‘the pool’ restaurant located within the hotel, the team were given a behind the scenes tour of The Student Hotel, checking out the student rooms, complimentary bicycles, gymnasium, works spaces and games rooms before checking into our own rooms. After a quick freshen up we headed over the former industrial complex ‘Strip-S‘ exploring the design shops, food halls, bars and restaurants which have sprung up in the old warehouses.
The evening was spent dining at Radio Royaal also located in the former industrial northwest for the city. The team tucked into oysters and a bottle of wine or two against the raw, unembellished interiors of this new restaurant concept.
After a comfortable nights rest at The Student Hotel in their 2 meter wide beds, the team wandered the streets of Eindhoven and checked out some cafes and retail stores in the southern side of the city before lunch at the beautiful Usine grand cafe.
The trip was great way to celebrate 10 years since our directors Dominic, Lucy and Natalie started up NoChintz selling design led furniture packs to developers – and a chance to reflect with the whole team how far we have come and talk about our exciting future! Thank you Eindhoven for being the perfect host!
