This month the NoChintz team were at Sleep, the hotel & design event. Sleep is the annual meeting place for the global design community, where designers, architects, hotel owners, developers, operators and investors come together with one common objective, to source and knowledge share for the design and creation of hotel environments.
We got the opportunity to take part in The Sleep Set; a competition in which teams create a guest room set to the Sleep brief; To create a guest room blueprint for a new hotel brand with a brief ‘Simplexity’ which asks, why have simple things become so complex? The Sleep Set will explore how hotel interior designers can reverse this trend and create a more harmonious and intuitive experiences for guests.
Our design showcased our trend focused and creative mythology with the creation of a hotel set that was distinctive, original in its approach to hospitality yet of course, simple and pleasurable for the user.
Presenting the scheme to a full auditorium, NoChintz Lucy Goddard took stage and offered Q&A with judges Marco Nijhof Founder, yoo Hotels, Conrad Smith Managing Director, ReardonSmith Architects and Katherine Blaisdell Vice President, Belmond.
We’d like to say a massive thanks to our main sponsor for the Sleep Set, Johnson Tiles, as well as all of our sponsors for the event; VitrA, Zeitraum, Northern Lights, Mattison Contract Beds, Vescom, InterfaceFlor, Skandium, Aesop, Chocolate Creative and Norcros Adhesives.
As well as taking part in The Sleep Set, NoChintz’s Abigail also took stage to present in the Rapid Eye Movement session, a quick fire session using the Pecha Kucha format delivering bursts of inspiration, insights and viewpoints. Our brief was ‘ones to watch’ and we delivered our 20 slides on ‘Travel’.
