Simone Ridyard is a Manchester based artist and architect, who lectures at Manchester school of Art and teaches drawing and presentation skills to all ages groups as part of here role.
Simone has developed an individual way of representing the built environment through meticulous architectural pencil drawings overlaid with loose water colour washes. Some of our favourite of her artwork comes from the ‘Manchester Series’, a collection of art depicting Manchester’s well-known buildings. Simone is a member of the Society of Architectural Illustration (MSAI) and has work exhibited in Manchester and Cornwall.
As the founder of the Manchester Urban Sketching Group, she organises the twice monthly meet ups. Urban Sketchers is a non-profit organisation, with a mission to raise the artistic, storytelling and educational value of location drawing, promoting its practice and connecting people around the world who draw on location where they live and travel.
Simone was recently invited to run an urban sketching master-class at our Kurio Manchester event that we co hosted with CBS. We received a great turn out for the event, and the attendees were all keen to meet Simone and gain advice, as well as reconnect with a skill that as professional creative we struggle to make time for.
You can find out where Simone is exhibiting her work on her website here.
