This month’s Design Hero is Designer Stefan Sagmeister, chosen by NoChintz Graphic Designer Rushe: “He creates eye catching and timeless work, his technique is often simple but the details he uses add humour, intelligence and purpose. I like how thought provoking and intriguing his designs are”.
Stefan Sagmeister is a New York-based graphic designer and typographer. He has his own design firm Sagmeister & Walsh Inc. His work is extremely broad and ranges from album covers to furniture.
Advertising campaign for Aishti, a luxury department store in Middle East, with headquarters in Beirut. Honing in on Aishti’s signature orange gift box, making it the visual centerpiece of the campaign. The box becomes a symbol for the brand, turning into an object of luxury.
This exhibition at Deitch Projects in New York featured a wall of 10,000 bananas. Green bananas created a pattern against a background of yellow bananas spelling out the sentiment: Self-confidence produces fine results. After a number of days the green bananas turned yellow too and the lettering disappeared. When the background fruit turned brown the lettering appeared again.
The “Be Here Now” compass table has magnetic custom porcelain espresso cups that entice the compasses underneath to go wild and point to each cup placed on the table.
