Striving to promote independent designers and makers, Snug Gallery, based in the picturesque town of Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire, works closely with some of the UK’s leading makers to bring quality, handmade and unique pieces to the public to suit all budgets.
Previously based in Manchester’s Craft & Design Centre for over seven years, Ed Chadwick opened his own shop in April 2010 with involvement from his gallery curator wife, and Snug Gallery has gone from strength to strength, allowing him to bring on board a wider range of makers from ceramics to print and paper. Through their support of the Manchester Metropolitan University degree show and the Great Northern Craft Fair, Snug Gallery gives great opportunities to emerging makers and designers, showing and selling their work through the gallery as well as creating a commissioning service allowing the customer and maker to work directly together to create one off pieces.
We love… With over 25 independent makers in their gallery picking a few favourite pieces is like choosing between your children! We have to say the ceramics of Derek Wilson are really beautiful, this Belfast based ceramicist has created the most amazing mug which has been squeezed before firing, making solid ceramic feel malleable and amazing to hold. We love them! The paper cuts of Sarah Morpeth are definitely worth a mention coupled with her own illustrations create amazing pieces, as well as Skye based jewelry designer Helena Emmans who has created an exclusive collection for Snug Gallery – which is worth the trip alone. Plus, the have an excellent online shop for those not quite close enough for a day trip!
